Kidnappers of
Mr Michael Obi, father of Chelsea
star Mikel Obi, on August 17, 2011 contacted
the family.
Michael Obi, a retired
government staff, who recently started a transportation
business in Jos was kidnapped
on Fri. evening
On Tuesday 16th August 2011 in Jos
Police advocated to the public
for details that could assist in
solving his mysterious
disappearance. However , on the
same day, it turned out that the
family received 2 calls from his
abductors, who initially informed
them that he had been removed
from Jos.
“They called mummy (Mikel’s
mother) and told her that we
should not bother looking for
Daddy in Jos because he had
been taken to Lagos,” a family
source informed the press.
A couple of hours later another
call came in, providing family
members the exact location of
the car which Mr Obi was driving
before he went missing. Tony,
the eldest of the Obi children,
established that the car was
discovered in Jos, but refused to
state where. However, Mikel’s
mother contradicted this,
confirming just that the car was
found due to a tip gotten.
“Somebody who had an idea of
the make of the car contacted us.
And based on that information
people were sent out to the spot
and confirmed the information
to be correct. That is the much
that has happened and that’s the
much we can say for now until
tomorrow,” she said.
Micheal’s car was found close to
