Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe calls for elections next year 2012

President Mugabe has recently call for election next year 2012
"We are saying time has come now to prepare to have elections - we just have to have elections next year," Mr Mugabe told the conference.
He said the unity government had "overstayed its welcome".
"Our country does not have an elected government," he said. "I am president to a political arrangement which is makeshift, undemocratic and illegitimate."
Elections do not have to happen until 2013, but analysts say Mr Mugabe's supporters want them earlier for fear that the elderly president may not cope with the pressure of campaigning. He is expected to be formally endorsed as Zanu-PF's presidential candidate before the end of the conference.

Adele I want to start by saying that your Album has made a lot of good impressions.

The singer - recovering from an operation to save her voice - released her second album just 10 months ago, making the feat even more impressive.
It overtook the late Amy Winehouse's Back To Black, which landed the record a little over three months ago.
The new record of 3.4 million sales was confirmed yesterday by the Official Charts Company.
Amy's album took five years to get to its present 3.3 million sales level, and its success was partly due to the further sales boost following her death in July.

ASUU Strike begins on midnight Sunday!

ASUU embarks on  strike following the government refusal to sign the union agreement of 2009.       According to the punch report government had promised to honour the agreement reached two years ago on the adequate funding of the universities and other sundry issues after a meeting with ASUU in September.
A Memorandum of Understanding by both parties was signed at the meeting with the Ministers of Education and Labour and Productivity in attendance.
But ASUU President, Prof.Ukachukwu Awuzie, said in Port Harcourt on Sunday, that the government had deliberately refused to honour the agreement.
Awuzie regretted that rather than executing the content of the accord, the government sacked the Implementation Monitoring Committee that served as the forum for a dialogue with ASUU on the dispute.
He wondered why the government did not make any move to implement the core components of the agreement, even when the union granted its (government) request for a two-month grace to begin the implementation process.

Al-Qaeda's Plan to Kidnap Nigerian Westerners

Thank God that the Nigeria Security Agences are at an alert. But I must say that this is a serious threat to Nigeria.

The secret agency, the newspaper reports, says the abductions are slated to be carried out by Mauritanian terrorists.
Algeria is home to the Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, a group that has been identified by security agencies as providing both logistics and training to the violent Islamic sect in the North-East, Boko Haram.
In a recent interview, a Boko Haram leader had admitted the link between the sect and Mauritania, saying that several of its bomb experts and foot soldiers received training in the country.  The leader had also said that some members of the group had just returned from Mauritania to launch new terrorist attacks.

How to activate Blackberry Email Account-Blackberry User Story 1

Gist 101
I have decided to write down this procedure of activating Blackberry Email Account for my neighbour, Jose.

A 25years old Jose bought  a new blackberry bold in a nearby plaza adjacent to my quarter. For 3month, Jose kept on trying to activate his blackberry e-mail account to enable him keep track with his new London girlfriend. After much trying he resorted to making phone calls and using facebook as substitutes. This  had been always claiming  his little income he had earned as salary.
One day, he came to me complaining and almost frustrated that he cannot access the  e-mail message his girlfriend sent to him on his phone. Five several occasions, he had ran to cybercafe just to read mail and on one of occasion he attempted asking the young girl to stop sending him e-mail message.

Saif al-Islam,Colonel Gaddafi's son announced captured in Southern Libya

There is no doubt that this is a very significant moment for Libyans. Libyans have suffer  several years of hostage but today they been liberated as last key member of the Gaddafi family, Saif al-Islam has been captured in southern Libya by fighters loyal to the new government.

Saif al-Islam, 39, is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged crimes against humanity A militia force allied to the ruling National Transitional Council (NTC) said he had been captured in the desert about 50km (30 miles) west of Obari, and taken to their base in Zintan.

So instead, the court is already working to try to ensure a fair trial inside Libya. For Saif al-islam Gaddafi a trial in his own country means he could face the death penalty. That's something that would not have happened if his father had signed up Libya to the ICC, where the maximum sentence is life in prison.

Ex-militants threaten bombing campaign tomorrow

I still don't understand the meaning of Niger Delta militans or ex-militans, Boko Haram or Islamic sectors. What are all these groups for? To exploit Nigeria or help us? The so-called Niger Delta militants have resurface again threatening to bomb oil installation tomorrow, for what?
The group, which issued a statement on Thursday, announced that it took the decision after a three-hour meeting held in the creeks of the region recently.
Two weeks ago, the militants had handed the government a 14-day ultimatum to meet some demands.
The demands included the payment of their monthly allowances and the recognition of some militants who embraced the amnesty programme by submitting their arms to the Kingsley Kuku-led Presidential Amnesty Committee. They had also demanded that the Federal Government should urgently probe the Presidential Amnesty Committee, describing it as a fraud.
"Except these modest requests are granted within the next 14 days, the Presidential Amnesty Committee should be ready for more face-offs and violent confrontations," the ex-militants had warned.
The statement issued by one General’ Keithy Sese, "the General Officer commanding all ex-militants on Phase 3,’’ claimed that the group had no choice but to resort to the use of violence, "the only language that the Nigerian government understands."
It warned "all multi-nationals and their expatriate workers to urgently relocate from the states of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers as we will not be held responsible for anything that befalls people who refuse to listen to these modest directives."

Abati Reuben, Special Advicer to President Blasted After Nigeria National Award 2010/2011- a must read comments

GIST
   I extracted this comments from sahara reporters after the just concluded Nigeria National Award 2010/2011. Abati Reuben all Nigeria knew, was the guardian newspaper editorial chairman before he was appointed special Advicer to president Goodluck Jonathan. His unresponsiveness and indifference attitudes now that he was appointed special advicer to president has generated a lot of negative criticism by mindful Nigerians who knew him when he was still guardian newspaper editorial chairman and his post on 2009/2010 Nigeria National Award. Now, lets read these must read comments;

My admiration for your comment Jagaban.

I admire your comment on this article Jagaban. It is factual, apt and hilarious. Nice one.

We Are Often Dangerously Too Emotional!

I am of the opinion that GEJ did something commendable by appointing Reuben Abati his press secretary. It shows that he genuinely wanted a quality person.
I am also of the view that Reuben has not misstepped by accepting his appointment and that he has so far not been found wanting in his role!
The attacks on him are completely misconceived as it was the right thing to accept to serve your country and definitely wrong, cowardly and/or misguided to shy away from such opportunity in the circumstance.
It is misguided and deeply unfortunate that some Nigerians who think they are enlightened appear to think social critics should just be criticizing and avoid trying to do their bit!

@ IFYGUY, you wrote.......

"Assuming i become a medical consultant today and i am appointed to serve as minister or head a federal medical centre, etc i will grab it with both hands. It is the dream of every professional to serve at the APEX of his chosen carrier"
Not so fast pal. Not “every professional” is in that the end justifies the means tag-team of yours. There are a lot of other people that make choices based on principles and values they stand for. Nelson Mandela came to mind. Achebe’s rejection of the award is also another example.
The Arab’s spring is not about grabbing an opportunity but about principles and values. I’m not condemning your principles and values but your use of “every professional” is not so every but rather "some" like you.

Over 300 humans have so far

Over 300 humans have so far rejected OBE-among other honors in London-so what is the noise about-even John Lenon returned his because of the biafran and the vietnam war! Black poet Benjamin Zephaniah said he rejected the offer of an OBE last month because he believes it stands for colonial brutality and slavery. He said the honour's title, Order of the British Empire, gives an impression of white supremacy saying he had been "fighting against the legacy of empire" all his life. John Lennon returned his MBE four years after receiving it Late Beatles legend John Lennon was perhaps the highest profile figure to reject an honour. He returned his MBE four years after accepting it in 1965. In a note accompanying the gong, he wrote: "Your Majesty, I am returning this in protest against Britain's involvement in the Nigeria-Biafra thing, against our support of America in Vietnam, and against Cold Turkey slipping down the charts. With love. John Lennon of Bag

abati

Gbenga Aruleba did.
He had spoken against government so much that he didnt want to double speak,by taking an appointment. How about that? Does it answer your question?

@IFYGUY-Democracy 4ever

@IFYGUY-Democracy 4ever How u claim to be a medical doc shocking to me! U claim "Abati has no input whatsoever in the nomination of the awardees neither does he have the power to reform the award." So why was he defending that list against Achebe's rejection with so much gusto? Just last year, in his estimation, that list was full of rogues, govt.contractors and election riggers; is this year's list different in Abati's estimation? This article was just published to show he was a hungry man like you hoping to get his hands on the cake too.
U claim "Assuming i become a medical consultant today and i am appointed to serve as minister or head a federal medical centre, etc i will grab it with both hands." Good for u but not everyone would sell their soul cheaply; Prof. Achebe just made that clear. We now know the reason for the silly support you give here, it is an act of desperation to get noticed. Low IQ like you in authority? God forbid! Dumbo Jo is the last !

Facebook in Trouble; Facebook Accused of Hardcore pornographic and violent images

 Facebook virus!
Just some couple of days ago, facebook was accuse of violation of consumer protection law, which was a follow-up complain file on 2010. Facebook's founder, Mark Zuckerberg, has defended its privacy policies by saying,
"You have control over every single thing you've shared on Facebook," he said, "You can take it down."
He also said other search engines and advertising networks gathered "huge amount of information" about internet users through cookies, which he claimed was "less transparent than what is happening at Facebook".
Today, the story is different, it has been reportd that a  pornographic and violent images have been posted to  facebook site.

Ex-Commissioner's Wife, Former Commissioner for Educaton, Mrs. Yingi Edunam Kidnapped.

When will issue of kidnapping end in this country? Or is kidnapping common in every country? As for me, this mischief need a prompt intention. After we thought that telephone conversion had provided a lasted solution to kidnapping yet it is still occurring.

Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's Personal Physician guilty of Jackson's Manslaughter

The court sitting on Michael Jackson case has reached a verdict.
   What can you say?

A panel of seven men and five women took two days of deliberation to reach a verdict.
Michael Jackson died on 25 June 2009 from an overdose of the powerful anaesthetic propofol.
Murray, 58, could now receive a maximum prison term of four years and lose his licence to practise medicine.
Dr Murray's lawyers argued that Jackson self-administered a lethal dose of the drug while he was out of the room.
Dr Murray was remanded in custody without bail until he receives his sentence, set for 29 November.
Explaining his decision, the judge said Dr Murray was now a convicted felon and had considerable ties outside the state of California, meaning he could not guarantee that the doctor would remain in the state.
Dr Murray sat silently in court, shifting slightly in his seat as the verdict was read out.
Court officers began to handcuff the physician as the judge made his final announcements, before leading him away into custody.
'Drug addict' The jury - made up of one African American, six whites and five Hispanics - deliberated on Friday and through the morning on Monday.
Outside the court, fans of Michael Jackson were cheering and chanting, "Guilty! Guilty!" in the run-up to the verdict being announced.
During the six-week trial, 49 witnesses and more than 300 pieces of evidence were presented to the court.
Michael Jackson, who had been out of the public eye for several years, died in 2009 as he was preparing for a series of comeback performances at the 02 arena in London.
In his closing argument last Thursday, the prosecution said Dr Murray had caused the star's death through negligence, depriving Jackson's children of their father and the world of a "genius".
The defence argued that Jackson was a drug addict who caused his own death by giving himself an extra dose of propofol while the cardiologist was out of the room at the star's rented mansion in Los Angeles.

New Goggle+ Social Network Pages; a network rival to Facebook and Social Network pages providers

This is going to be a bone of contention and challenge for a social network like facebook as google has lunched its new social network pages. It does not end there, they started allowing businesses and brands to set up their own pages on this their new social network pages.

To add more to the pain of other social network, Organisations will not be charged to use the scheme and Google says it will not put adverts on their pages.

It is a further challenge to rival network Facebook, which offers its own Pages service allowing businesses to promote themselves.

Burberry, Barcelona football club and the Muppets are some of the organisations taking part in the launch.

Google says the service offers more than a shop window.

It says organisations can benefit from adding a "+" link to one of the adverts listed on the firm's results or to another marketing campaign. The page owners can then monitor how many people are clicking through to their Google+ page and where they clicked from.

However, Google says it will not pass on individual IP addresses or any other personal data.

Organisations will be able to use the site's Circles facility to match different information to different groups. They can also set up video chats with up to nine other users using the network's Hangouts service.

"Companies like being on social networks, it allows them to have a two-way conversation with their customers and get to know more about who they are," said Professor Jeremy Baker from the ESCP Europe Business School.

"It's a very persuasive and intimate atmosphere as the sites are seen as trusted places to be."

Google says more than 40 million people have already opened an account with its network

"Facebook still has more than 10 times the number of users," said Ian Maude, head of internet at Enders Analysis.

"Google+ is growing very quickly. However, there is an awful long way for it to go before it becomes a major threat to Mark Zuckerberg's business.

Hmmn, This is interesting! I will try goggle socal network

Unbeliveable: Attachment Girls Fired At Beauty Saloon For Refusing To Sexually Entertain Males

   GIST 101
It was noted that a warning to some of the illicit activities accommodated by salons besides gossip, a Bulawayo salon 'queen' reportedly fired five girls who were on industrial attachment after they refused to sexually entertain male patrons.

The rumour mill has it that the salon (name withheld), besides hair plating, is always known for recruiting young and sexy girls on behalf of some local businessmen.

Sources who spoke to us claimed that it has become custom if not law that every girl whom she recruited is liable to sexually entertain her male friends who frequently visit the hair salon.

"The woman is working in cahoots with some local businessmen hiring young girls as sex slaves on the pretext that they were hairdressers. Recently there were five unsuspecting young girls who were at the salon as interns but were fired after they refused to double their duties as sex slaves," said the source.

The mole added that to smooth sail its mission the salon closes late and the girls would be picked up by the woman's sex male clients. The woman, in a bid to cater for her customers' penchant for different varieties is also reported to be working hand in glove with some 'unscrupulous' schoolgirls who always come to the salon.

A case in point was a visit by this reporter at one of the busiest salons in the city, which shows flashy cars parked outside with their owners being attended to by a bevy of beauties-cum-hairdressers. However, it is against this background that our reporters went around some of the city salons to investigate what would be actually happening behind the scenes.

In an interview one hairdresser did not mince her words saying some salons were good hunting grounds for men soliciting female pleasures.

"Men both married and single are coming here asking for sexual favours. Some even after attending to them they will give us extra dollars and their business cards saying we should phone them. This is a temptation too good to ignore considering that they pay us handsomely after sexually satisfying them," said a woman in her early 20s who refused to be identified.

Although some hairdressers dismissed the claims as "dog's puke" designed to tarnishing their profession, they were however, quick to say their profession is just like a church, where its not everyone who attends it is holy.

“The rains are reducing for now so we are not expecting too much rain, there could be force of rain here and there particularly in the South but up here in the North, the intensity will be reducing but in the South, there could still be one or two very heavy down pour,

The same Sex Marriage; Catholic Women Protest Against it in Abuja

The popular thing that happen in United State is about to happen in Nigeria; where same sex marriage was legalized. Nigeriapilot reported that Catholic women in Abuja Archdiocese have planned a protest march today to the National Assembly, against the alleged bill in favour of same-sex marriage pending before the legislature.
Women in the archdiocese were mobilised at different parishes yesterday, to come out en masse for the protest, which has received the support of the Most Rev John Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja.
Onaiyekan has been one of the vocal opponents of same sex marriage, which he describes as unbiblical.
At the Holy Rosary Parish, Wuse, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Jerome Bello, urged the Catholic Women Organisation of the parish to moblise her members to participate in the protest.
Fr. Bello described same sex marriage as immoral before God and should not be allowed to be legalised in the country. The cleric wondered why the legislators should be occupied with legalizing acts like gay marriage and prostitution, when unemployment, insecurity, poverty, epileptic power supply, among others were making life unbearable for Nigerians.
The women are expected to present the position of the church to the legislators regarding the same sex marriage.
A private bill on same sex marriage was presented to the sixth National Assembly. There is fear that the issue may re-echo again on the floor of both chambers.
Same sex marriage was recently passed in some parts of the United States of America and also supported by the Anglican Church in some countries, hence the clamour for it by some people in Nigeria.
In a related development, Nigeria’s anti-sexual harassment law is to be amended to make offenders suffer stiffer punishment.
Under the law, employers of labour in public and private workplaces shall be required to deal dispassionately with all reported cases of sexual harassment.
A communiqué reached at a roundtable sponsored by the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, NLRC, in Abuja, proposed that the law must criminalise the ugly trend in the nation, especially with the recent reports of rape in some tertiary institutions in the country.
According to the discussants, the planned law must apply to the general public and examine if the mode of a female’s dressing can be relevant to what constitutes a sexual harassment.
Justice U.P. Kekemeke of the FCT High Court also discussed the place of the penal code, which did not cover sexual harassment, and the need to carefully study the existing law and amend where necessary.

I know nobody Nigeria like THIS but if you do let see you comment

In River State:25-Years Son Shot Dead by Nigeria Police in His mother's Presence

But that  was to be his last outing on earth as some trigger happy cops not only put paid to his ambition of studying law at the university by cutting him down at his prime but also left his mother, Mrs. Grace Victor, and siblings devastated.
The  killing of Emmanuel that Sunday afternoon, some distance from a police checkpoint along  Sani Abacha expressway in the heart of Yenagoa, came barely five months after his arrival in the state capital to assist in  the family business as a marketer.
He was killed right in the presence of  his mother who watched in horror.
The deceased was shot severally, even after he had hit the ground. His offence? He was said to have challenged the police, asking them why even on Sunday they could not go to church but chose to  extort  money from commercial bike operators and other road users…that they often run for cover when they see armed robbers while they intimidate innocent, law abiding Nigerians.
Emmanuel is not around to give his own side of the story as his killers were alleged to have claimed that they acted in self defence when the deceased lunged at them with scissors and, in the process, injured three of them.
This claim was,  however, debunked by eyewitnesses who insisted that the injuries on the policemen were self-inflicted to cover up the murder.
Narrating her ordeal, the bereaved mother, Mrs. Victor, said her son was killed in her presence by the policemen who shot repeatedly at him even after he had fallen on the ground.
The woman, in shock, noted that her son was cut down in his prime by those who were supposed to protect him, lamenting that he only came to Yenagoa in May, 2011 to work in the family business as a marketer and was not the type to move anyhow.
According to her, Emmanuel had nursed the ambition of studying law at the university.
Mrs. Victor, who gave a graphic account of what transpired that fateful day amidst sobs, said, “After the close of church, I came out and boarded a commercial motor bike and, not far from where I took off, I heard gun shots. I was scared and told the bike operator to stop for us to take cover.
“All of a sudden, I saw my son running and being chased by the police. Police vans were parked on both sides of the road.
And, when I discovered that it was my son they were chasing and about shooting, I ran towards one of their officers  close to one of the vans. I told him, `please, that is my son, he is a brother (that is a believer)’.
“By this time, they were corking their guns. And, by the time the officer I approached could signal his colleagues to stop; they were already shooting at my son.”
Continuing, she said: “I saw him shoot with my two eyes, no mercy at all, they shot him brutally. As he fell while they were shooting him, the tallest of them still continued shooting at him on the ground to his satisfaction before he stopped. My son was holding a Bible when he was shot. I rushed, as a mother, to go and attend to him but they threatened that if I didn’t move back, they would shoot me. They made me to move back. I did not see any of the policemen with any stain of blood then. But they just picked his Bible and drove off. It was another police vehicle that came and picked him.”
According to the mother, though she was not there when the matter started between her son and the policemen,  eye witnesses said the late Emmanuel made certain statements when he saw the cops  extorting money from Okada riders and other road users….that the action of the policemen  was wrong and that if they see armed robbers whether they would stay. “He even asked them that …even on Sunday, why they won’t go to church and leave extortion….This infuriated the policemen and they chased him and shot him dead.”
Anger by the action of the policemen especially at a time residents of the state were trying to put behind them the excesses of the outlawed Famou Tangbe security outfit, the Civil Liberties Organisation, Bayelsa State Chapter has vowed to take up take up the matter to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book and called on the state commissioner of police to, as a matter of urgency, institute an investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the killing of the youth.
The CLO, in a statement in Yenagoa by it’s secretary, Comrade Alagoa Morris, described the killing as one too many by the police in the state, saying, “We want these extra-judicial killings to stop and perpetrators made to face the law of the land.
“Now, no matter what happened, even though police statement is saying the boy was smoking hemp and even tried to fight them when they challenged him, can a 25-year old young man over power all those police officers that chased him? Was it proper to shoot at an unarmed Nigerian? Has the police the right to pass judgment and also sentence to death? These are few of the questions that the CLO and concerned Nigerians would like the police authorities to give answers to.”
Reacting to the incident, Governor Timipre Sylva called on the people of Bayelsa to go about their lawful business without any fear of harassment, intimidation or harassment even as he called on the new commissioner of police, Mr. Hillary Okpara, to investigate the alleged extra-judiciary killing at the police checkpoint in the state capital.
The state governor, in a statement by his chief press secretary I, Mr. Sampson Atasia Oburu, said “his administration is founded on the premise of justice, fairness and respect for the rule of law and would not fold its arms and watch innocent citizens being killed or maimed unjustly.”
Sylva expressed sadness over the incident and “commiserates with the family of the deceased and worshippers of Christ Embassy Church, Yenagoa”

Loss of 3,600mw of Electricity by Nigeria due to poor dam designs

The dailytrust had reported that President Goodluck Jonathan  had directed the National Economic Management Team (NEMT) to review dam projects across the country following an evaluation of the Architect Ibrahim Bunu-led Presidential Projects Assessment Committee report on water projects which indicated that the country was losing 3,600 megawatts of electricity due to poor designs and improper costing of dams across the country.
Information Minister Labaran Maku disclosed this yesterday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Jonathan at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.
He said the council also yesterday approved new guidelines for the presentation of project proposals to the FEC for approval, saying the modalities were to prevent future mistakes where awarded projects were abandoned.
Maku, who briefed newsmen alongside Works Minister Mike Onolememen, Minister of State for Finance Yerima Lawal Ngama, said the resolution followed a briefing by Bunu committee, which he said indicated that the country has about 200 dam projects some of them completed while others were at various stages of completion.
He said Bunu told the council that the dam projects were designed to supply water for human consumption, generate about 3,600 mega watts of electricity for the nation and were also designed to have the capacity to irrigate 3.1 million hectors of land for various agricultural purposes.
The council also agreed to reinforce the technical departments of some of the key construction ministries for efficient supervision of projects and that in drawing up agreements on contracts, public interest must supersedes contractors’ interests.

Enugu recent rape; Groups flay rape of old women in Enugu

Enugu barbaric Rape:                                                                                                                              The recent rape of an  old woman by youths Opi in Nsukka Local Government Area  has resulted in flaying of some women groups in Enugu State who  condemned it  describing it as ‘’barbaric and bizarre’’.
Mrs. Joy Ezeilo, the Executive Director, Women Aid Collective, WACOL, said yesterday that it was a violation of women’s rights and a crime against humanity.
She said the act was a defilement of the land, Igbo culture, community and societal morality, adding that the perpetrators deserved life imprisonment with hard labour.
Ezeilo urged security agencies, women organisations, and other stakeholders to join hands in order to fight the moral decadence.
She said: “They should get nothing but life imprisonment and with hard labour because this is what they deserve.
I hope that the police and other security forces  will swing into action. We will lend our support and I am sure many other women groups across Nigeria will lend their support to stop this violation. This is inhuman.”
Mrs Chichi Agbalaka, President, Business and Professional Women, BPW, Enugu State branch, explained that the government should inaugurate a committee to investigate the matter.
She explained that investigating the rape would go a long way to prevent a recurrence.
She said: “I think that there is supposed to be a committee on it. You sit down and know the cause, because we have never heard it before in Nigeria.
Mrs Maureen Atuonwu, the Coordinator, South East Women Network, SEWNET, Enugu State branch, expressed concern that parents had neglected their roles in bringing up their children properly.
She therefore, appealed to parents, especially mothers, to go back to the drawing boards in order to fight moral decadence in the society.
