Ex-militants threaten bombing campaign tomorrow

I still don't understand the meaning of Niger Delta militans or ex-militans, Boko Haram or Islamic sectors. What are all these groups for? To exploit Nigeria or help us? The so-called Niger Delta militants have resurface again threatening to bomb oil installation tomorrow, for what?
The group, which issued a statement on Thursday, announced that it took the decision after a three-hour meeting held in the creeks of the region recently.
Two weeks ago, the militants had handed the government a 14-day ultimatum to meet some demands.
The demands included the payment of their monthly allowances and the recognition of some militants who embraced the amnesty programme by submitting their arms to the Kingsley Kuku-led Presidential Amnesty Committee. They had also demanded that the Federal Government should urgently probe the Presidential Amnesty Committee, describing it as a fraud.
"Except these modest requests are granted within the next 14 days, the Presidential Amnesty Committee should be ready for more face-offs and violent confrontations," the ex-militants had warned.
The statement issued by one General’ Keithy Sese, "the General Officer commanding all ex-militants on Phase 3,’’ claimed that the group had no choice but to resort to the use of violence, "the only language that the Nigerian government understands."
It warned "all multi-nationals and their expatriate workers to urgently relocate from the states of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers as we will not be held responsible for anything that befalls people who refuse to listen to these modest directives."

Abati Reuben, Special Advicer to President Blasted After Nigeria National Award 2010/2011- a must read comments

GIST
   I extracted this comments from sahara reporters after the just concluded Nigeria National Award 2010/2011. Abati Reuben all Nigeria knew, was the guardian newspaper editorial chairman before he was appointed special Advicer to president Goodluck Jonathan. His unresponsiveness and indifference attitudes now that he was appointed special advicer to president has generated a lot of negative criticism by mindful Nigerians who knew him when he was still guardian newspaper editorial chairman and his post on 2009/2010 Nigeria National Award. Now, lets read these must read comments;

My admiration for your comment Jagaban.

I admire your comment on this article Jagaban. It is factual, apt and hilarious. Nice one.

We Are Often Dangerously Too Emotional!

I am of the opinion that GEJ did something commendable by appointing Reuben Abati his press secretary. It shows that he genuinely wanted a quality person.
I am also of the view that Reuben has not misstepped by accepting his appointment and that he has so far not been found wanting in his role!
The attacks on him are completely misconceived as it was the right thing to accept to serve your country and definitely wrong, cowardly and/or misguided to shy away from such opportunity in the circumstance.
It is misguided and deeply unfortunate that some Nigerians who think they are enlightened appear to think social critics should just be criticizing and avoid trying to do their bit!

@ IFYGUY, you wrote.......

"Assuming i become a medical consultant today and i am appointed to serve as minister or head a federal medical centre,etc i will grab it with both hands. It is the dream of every professional to serve at the APEX of his chosen carrier"
Not so fast pal. Not “every professional” is in that the end justifies the means tag-team of yours. There are a lot of other people that make choices based on principles and values they stand for. Nelson Mandela came to mind. Achebe’s rejection of the award is also another example.
The Arab’s spring is not about grabbing an opportunity but about principles and values. I’m not condemning your principles and values but your use of “every professional” is not so every but rather "some" like you.

Over 300 humans have so far

Over 300 humans have so far rejected OBE-among other honors in London-so what is the noise about-even John Lenon returned his because of the biafran and the vietnam war! Black poet Benjamin Zephaniah said he rejected the offer of an OBE last month because he believes it stands for colonial brutality and slavery. He said the honour's title, Order of the British Empire, gives an impression of white supremacy saying he had been "fighting against the legacy of empire" all his life. John Lennon returned his MBE four years after receiving it Late Beatles legend John Lennon was perhaps the highest profile figure to reject an honour. He returned his MBE four years after accepting it in 1965. In a note accompanying the gong, he wrote: "Your Majesty, I am returning this in protest against Britain's involvement in the Nigeria-Biafra thing, against our support of America in Vietnam, and against Cold Turkey slipping down the charts. With love. John Lennon of Bag

abati

Gbenga Aruleba did.
He had spoken against government so much that he didnt want to double speak,by taking an appointment. How about that? Does it answer your question?

@IFYGUY-Democracy 4ever

@IFYGUY-Democracy 4ever How u claim to be a medical doc shocking to me! U claim "Abati has no input whatsoever in the nomination of the awardees neither does he have the power to reform the award." So why was he defending that list against Achebe's rejection with so much gusto? Just last year, in his estimation, that list was full of rogues, govt.contractors and election riggers; is this year's list different in Abati's estimation? This article was just published to show he was a hungry man like you hoping to get his hands on the cake too.
U claim "Assuming i become a medical consultant today and i am appointed to serve as minister or head a federal medical centre,etc i will grab it with both hands." Good for u but not everyone would sell their soul cheaply; Prof. Achebe just made that clear. We now know the reason for the silly support you give here, it is an act of desperation to get noticed. Low IQ like you in authority? God forbid! Dumbo Jo is the last !

 Facebook virus!

He also said other search engines and advertising networks gathered "huge amount of information" about internet users through cookies, which he claimed was "less transparent than what is happening at Facebook".

On the top lists of recipents is:

Nine former governors were among the 65 recipients that got CON.

This list attracted a lot of negative criticism .
I must say that it is always good to give honour to whom honour is due. They deserve the honour to my own opinion; I don't know about you. Nevertheless, to whom more is given , more is expected. I wait in anticipation to see  what more they can offer to Nigeria
