In Ondo State: 4 kids kill playmate over mobile phone; who is to be blame?

Ondo State Police Command has apprehended four primary school pupils in Akure over alleged murder of their playmate, Godswill Omokabo,
The deceased, an 11- year-old boy, a pupil of a private primary school in Oke-Aro area, Akure was said to have been killed and his body was found in a farm along Idanre Road.

Godswill was said to be living in the same house with the four suspects who had an argument with the deceased over the ownership of a mobile phone bought for him by his parents .

The suspects who were between 11 and 13 years old were said to have asked him to allow them play with the phone, a request was turned down by the deceased and the four suspects threatened to deal with him.
Three days after the incident, Godswill and the four suspects were said to have gone out to play but only the deceased did not return home with them and they gave conflicting reports when the parents asked them about their son’s whereabout.

The suspects were said to have initially told the parents that their son fell into the river and was swept away and almost immediately changed their story, saying he got drowned while they were all swimming.
It was gathered that the parents and their neighbours formed a search party and after searching for the remains of the boy for over 24 hours the father reported the matter to the Police. It was   gathered by the daily sun that one of the suspects out fear, took his parent to where they hid the corpse of Godwill and it was recovered without the knowledge of the deceased parents.

When he was later told that the corpse had been recovered, Godswill’s father, Joseph was said to discovered that bruises were all over the body of his late son and he raised alarm .
The mother of the deceased who confirmed that her son had argument’s with the four suspects said the hands of the four boys who threatened to kill her son were not clean on the crime
The contentious phone, it was learnt, was later found in possession of the four suspects days after the Godwill got missing.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adeniran Aremu who confirmed the incident said the four suspects were in police custody.
He added that the command had commenced investigation to unravel the circumstances behind the Godswill’s death .

My question to this hurrible incident is, 'who is to be blame'? I must say that the parents have a greater part to play especially when i comes to this kind of situation.

DO YOU THINK THAT PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS NEED PHONE?

Loss of 3,600mw of Electricity by Nigeria due to poor dam designs

The dailytrust had reported that President Goodluck Jonathan  had directed the National Economic Management Team (NEMT) to review dam projects across the country following an evaluation of the Architect Ibrahim Bunu-led Presidential Projects Assessment Committee report on water projects which indicated that the country was losing 3,600 megawatts of electricity due to poor designs and improper costing of dams across the country.
Information Minister Labaran Maku disclosed this yesterday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Jonathan at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.
He said the council also yesterday approved new guidelines for the presentation of project proposals to the FEC for approval, saying the modalities were to prevent future mistakes where awarded projects were abandoned.
Maku, who briefed newsmen alongside Works Minister Mike Onolememen, Minister of State for Finance Yerima Lawal Ngama, said the resolution followed a briefing by Bunu committee, which he said indicated that the country has about 200 dam projects some of them completed while others were at various stages of completion.
He said Bunu told the council that the dam projects were designed to supply water for human consumption, generate about 3,600 mega watts of electricity for the nation and were also designed to have the capacity to irrigate 3.1 million hectors of land for various agricultural purposes.
The council also agreed to reinforce the technical departments of some of the key construction ministries for efficient supervision of projects and that in drawing up agreements on contracts, public interest must supersedes contractors’ interests.

Enugu recent rape; Groups flay rape of old women in Enugu

Enugu barbaric Rape:                                                                                                                              The recent rape of an  old woman by youths Opi in Nsukka Local Government Area  has resulted in flaying of some women groups in Enugu State who  condemned it  describing it as ‘’barbaric and bizarre’’.
Mrs. Joy Ezeilo, the Executive Director, Women Aid Collective, WACOL, said yesterday that it was a violation of women’s rights and a crime against humanity.
She said the act was a defilement of the land, Igbo culture, community and societal morality, adding that the perpetrators deserved life imprisonment with hard labour.
Ezeilo urged security agencies, women organisations, and other stakeholders to join hands in order to fight the moral decadence.
She said: “They should get nothing but life imprisonment and with hard labour because this is what they deserve.
I hope that the police and other security forces  will swing into action. We will lend our support and I am sure many other women groups across Nigeria will lend their support to stop this violation. This is inhuman.”
Mrs Chichi Agbalaka, President, Business and Professional Women, BPW, Enugu State branch, explained that the government should inaugurate a committee to investigate the matter.
She explained that investigating the rape would go a long way to prevent a recurrence.
She said: “I think that there is supposed to be a committee on it. You sit down and know the cause, because we have never heard it before in Nigeria.
Mrs Maureen Atuonwu, the Coordinator, South East Women Network, SEWNET, Enugu State branch, expressed concern that parents had neglected their roles in bringing up their children properly.
She therefore, appealed to parents, especially mothers, to go back to the drawing boards in order to fight moral decadence in the society.
